Terms and conditions
Thank you for choosing WorkChanges. Please read this agreement carefully. When you join a career guidance session you are deemed to accept these terms and conditions. Please print off a copy for future reference.
Nature of Career Guidance – Guidelines
Clients often come to career guidance at times of uncertainty and sometimes come with an unspoken hope someone will take over and find you a new job. You may be liaising with recruitment agencies, potential and current employers or headhunters, any of whom may be steering the process, but who also have their own interests at stake.
Career guidance is different. It is not about brokering a job, but about you having someone independent, professional and impartial on your side, listening to you, reframing what they hear, offering support, feedback and insight as you make your way.
Like coaching at the gym it supports development, but as at the gym, the coach alone achieves nothing.
So, career guidance does:
help people find jobs, and jobs better tailored to who they are;
help you to present with greater confidence/insight about who you are and what you offer, and how you are communicating this;
support during career change, job-seeking and decision-making, especially when the way ahead is ambiguous, conflicted or uncertain;
help you to feel more listened to, and to see your career decisions from different perspectives and with greater clarity.
However most often it is a process and the results grow over time.
In particular, as international career discussions may be wide-ranging, it is important to note my qualifications are in career guidance not in law:
- Any contractual or legal discussions (e.g. on work permits or visas) are of a general nature, and are not a substitute for professional legal or financial advice;
- Career guidance draws on counselling skills, but is not psychotherapy or counselling. If you have concerns about your health you should seek advice from a qualified healthcare professional.
On a practical level:
- AssignmentsIn busy lives it can be difficult to find time for oneself. You understand you are more likely to achieve your goals, and faster, if you are able to make space to action what you take on!
- Communication methods
You decide whether you would rather use phone, facetime or skype for your session in advance. You let Catrin know by email to catrin@workchanges.co.uk with any additional information (sent at latest 48 hours before the appointment) which method you’ll be using. You then call her at the agreed time.Please note: While the Coach will try to be flexible where possible, a late start to the session may result in a shorter session. - Cancellation and rescheduling
Appointments which you cancel up to 24 hours beforehand will be rescheduled (to a mutually agreed time) or reimbursed in full (less paypal charges) as you prefer. Please email catrin@workchanges.co.uk to arrange this.The full session fee is retained if less than 24 hours notice of cancellation is given. - In exceptional circumstances, the Coach may need to rearrange a session. In those instances you will be given 48 hours notice where practical. Full reimbursement of all fees for the cancelled session will be made in this case if a mutually agreed new time cannot be found.
Career Guidance Agreement
1. Nature of agreement
WorkChanges will work with you to offer career guidance, in accordance with these terms and conditions.
Your entitlement to career guidance will arise when the Coach has sent the order confirmation and received full payment of all sums due.
2. Start
Your career guidance session will take place, by phone, skype or facetime as you prefer, at the date, time and duration you selected on the website and stated on the order confirmation email. Generally appointments are for an hour, though it is recommended you choose an hour and a half for a practice interview session. You book an appointment as you want one, no costly ongoing contracts.
The order confirmation email is sent once online payment has been made. It includes an order number and gives further confirmation of phone numbers to use.
You choose the method of communication which suits you (and your location) best, and you pay for the cost of the call. Calls are at standard rates and may vary by network provider.
3. Service
The Coach, Catrin Davies, will work with you, offering career guidance and support in accordance with the Guidelines above.
4. Your prior commitments
After payment is made, before your appointment, please email any important background information to us no less than two working days before the agreed appointment. This gives time for us, and you, to prepare for the session and is of particular importance if you want a practice interview.
Key background information could include:
if wanting a practice interview, or feedback on an application for a specific post:
further information on the potential employer, the post and its location, person specification, job description, any further information provided by the employer on the assessment process and the post requirements (including of the location),
plus your application and covering letter;
If your application is still incomplete, don’t worry, but please send your preparatory information nonetheless. Scanned mindmaps or scans of a sea of post-it notes help the process!
If seeking career guidance for broader issues, or if not linked to a specific role, then a brief outline of your concerns helps set the scene.
5. Fees
You agree to pay to the Coach the fees set out on the WorkChanges website before the career guidance session starts.
The Coach reserves the right to amend the fee structure by giving reasonable notice in writing at any time without liability.
6. Payment security
